It’s a little on the pricey side but this seat can almost double as an activity centre and perfect to help gives parents a few minutes of peace and quiet. Not ideal for eating, though, as liquids and foods such as yoghurt can stain but it is easy to clean as long as you make sure to not let the food soak in.
2. Summer Infant 3-in-1 Floor ‘N More Baby Support Floor Seat
Summer Infant make fantastic products. This solid baby floor seat is great for letting your little one rest safely and keep their posture healthy. The hard plastic is moulded ergonomically and is wrapped with a comfortable and washable soft fabric cover. Straps are included with a 3 point harness to keep them from being able to get out when you’re not looking. The Summer Infant floor ‘n more seat doesn’t have any included toys but thanks to the feeding removable tray it can easily double up as a feeding seat to join in with the family.
3. Galt Toys Farm Playnest for Baby
The Galt Toys farm play nest isn’t strictly a chair but it’s the closest thing you’re going to get for newborn babies who can’t support their necks but you need a solution to keep them in place comfortably and safely. The ring needs to be inflated but it is covered in a soft fabric which makes them feel weightless. The unique selling point of the Galt playnest is that it has 8 different play areas and babies can still use it when they’re older to rest up straight so this can be seen as a good investment which can be used from birth all the way to toddler age. An excellent product which provides good value for money.
4. Mamas & Papas Baby Snug Floor Seat and Activity Tray
The excellent Mamas & papas baby snug seat is a hybrid between a baby floor seat and an activity centre tray and an ideal purchase for parents who want their babies to be engaged and busy while they take a seat and not just staring at a screen or eating. The seat itself is well designed and comfortable which enables your baby to sit with a healthy hip position and a straight back. The removable activity tray and included toys are as good as many activity centres so you really get a good deal with this. It’s lightweight, portable and great value for money.
5. Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat
The Safety 1st swivel bath seat is primarily designed to be in the bath and attach to the floor of the tub, but it can equally be used effectively on tiled or marbled floors. It’s clearly a basic designed product but it’s very effective in its single goal of providing a safe place to take a seat and promote good posture. We have one of these ourselves when our son was unable to hold himself up in the bath and can personally attest to how easy it made life. We did also occasionally use it as a simple seat in the house to give us a few moments to make a coffee, have some food etc. One of the cheapest baby seats on the market but does not have a tray.
6. Red Kite Baby Sit Me Up Peppermint Trail
The Red Kite site me up peppermint trail floor seat is a charming and comfortable soft chair with a colourful design and a handy little tray to hold toys such as books or even some snacks, some toys are included and are detachable. It’s a really cost-effective product designed for babies up to 9 months old who can support their own necks. The chair is sturdy enough to promote good back posture. Although it’s not clear, this baby seat needs to be inflated and therefore not suitable for outdoor use or in the company of pets.
7. Bumbo Floor Seat
The Bumbo floor seat is perhaps one of the most well-known brands of baby seats for the house. It is a very basic design but the seat is made with soft and hard-wearing plastic which is ergonomic all on its own without the need to add any soft fabrics. A seat belt is attached to keep them secure. The Bumbo’s strength is in its simplicity of design which won’t topple over and start to break apart with use.

For something which is more soft and sofa like the various designs by GSCH are the best baby floor seats. Made almost entire with soft polyester with a soft padded lining the seat offers unrivalled comfort whilst still managing to keep your baby in a healthy position with their hips extended and their back straight. It comfortably attaches securely to tables with its own tray meaning you never need to use unhygienic restaurant baby seats again. It folds effortlessly and isn’t heavy but unlikely to fit in your regular bag. The removable covers mean that when it gets stained with food it can be washed quickly.
